Eligibility Requirements


We are looking for leaders with a strong Christian faith who have a compelling vision to transform their institutions and communities. Leaders from all professions are encouraged to apply.

Academic Stream

Graduates of the Academic Stream will receive a Graduate Certificate in Abundant Leadership, equivalent to 15 graduate-level credits which can be applied to the online Masters in Leadership program at Trinity Western University.

  • All applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA average or equivalent.

    • At least 3 years of experience serving in a leadership position.

    • Willingness to complete at least 5 academic papers & assigned readings with an assigned supervisor along with the Abundant Leadership Institute training.

    If applicants do not meet these requirements we recommend applying for the Competency-Based stream.

  • In addition to attending all eight three-day training sessions, you must be willing to make the following commitments:

    • Host a site visit from an ALI staff member as required (online or in-person)

    • Complete practical leadership assignments

    • Train and equip 10 leaders from your organization, community, and/or network by sharing what you learned at ALI

    • Attend or assist with the planning of the annual Kurumbuka Summit /ALI Retreat once every two years

  • All interested applicants are strongly encouraged to secure the support of your organization before submitting your application. Specifically, your organization must be willing to grant you the time off necessary to attend all eight three-day training sessions over 12 months. Training is conducted through both in-person and online modules.

    **Not all training sessions are held on weekdays. The academic calendar will be shared with all successful applicants.

Competency-Based Stream

Graduates of the Competency-Based Stream will receive an Advanced Leadership Certificate in Abundant Leadership.

  • All applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Diploma and at least 7 years of experience in a leadership position

    • Bachelor's Degree and exceptional achievement as a young leader

    • Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of experience in a leadership position

    • Master's Degree and at least 3 years of experience in a leadership position

  • In addition to attending all eight three-day training sessions, you must be willing to make the following commitments:

    • Host a site visit from an ALI staff member as required (online or in-person)

    • Complete practical leadership assignments

    • Train and equip 10 leaders from your organization, community, and/or network by sharing what you learned at ALI

    • Attend or assist with the planning of the annual Kurumbuka Summit /ALI Retreat once every two years
