Marketing Coordinator

Number of Hours: 32 per week
8 Week Contract: August 30-October 22**

Location: Langley, British Columbia*
Compensation: $18.00/hour

Description:

Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions, a registered Canadian charity based in Langley, BC, seeks a creative, committed, and competent team player. At Kurumbuka, we develop and empower African leaders with God-given visions for transformation.

This is an opportunity for you to assist in the development of Kurumbuka’s brand. You will work alongside members of our MarComm team and engage with different stakeholders. We are looking for someone excited about acting as a champion for Kurumbuka and growing personally and professionally while making significant contributions to our growth as an innovative NGO.

Reporting to: Director of Strategic Growth and Public Engagement

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Kurumbuka’s marketing strategy.

  • Create content for Kurumbuka’s various initiatives through graphic design, photography, and videography.

  • Support Kurumbuka’s content management system and strategy.

  • Help improve Kurumbuka’s website through SEO, UX, and design improvements.

  • Contribute to Kurumbuka’s social media management through monthly content planning and executing approximately four posts per week.

  • Work with members of Kurumbuka’s team in Africa to help develop content and visual assets for Kurumbuka’s programs.

  • Advise on the acquisition of hardware and other resources that will be utilized for content collection and program delivery.

  • Identify and work with companies to acquire highly professional and cost-effective collateral.

Requirements:

  • Completed (or in the process of completing) a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Meet the following Canada Summer Jobs Program eligibility requirements:

    • be 30 years of age or younger at the beginning of the employment period;

    • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,

    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Expected Experience and Skills:

  • One year of experience in content creation, graphic design, and social media management.

  • Able to work in both team and solo environments.

  • Time management skills to work on multiple projects at once with various deadlines.

  • Complete projects with acute attention to detail.

  • Display creativity and problem-solving.

  • Ability to execute within established processes but able to freestyle and learn new skills and approaches as needed.

  • Competency with necessary hardware (i.e. cameras and computers), software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Photoshop or Illustrator, CMS, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro), and other programs/tools (i.e. MailChimp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).*

  • Proficiency in French is an added bonus.

*Competency is not essential in every hardware, software, or program/tool. However, the applicant must be willing to learn the skills necessary to complete assigned tasks.
