Position: Project Manager | Kurumbuka Leadership Hub
Location: Kigali, Rwanda (Kicukiro/Masaka)
Reports to: Finance & Operations Director and Property Committee
Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years (renewable based on performance and project phase needs)
Salary: Salary and benefits will be competitive for the East African market.
Probation: 3–6 months

Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions is a leadership development organization committed to raising and equipping high-impact African leaders who transform their institutions, organizations, and communities.
As part of its long-term vision to develop and empower African Leaders, Kurumbuka is developing the Kurumbuka Leadership Hub, a multi-phase campus project over the next 8–10 years.

Kurumbuka is seeking a highly capable and trusted Project Manager to oversee the development of the Kurumbuka Leadership Hub. The successful candidate will serve as Kurumbuka’s primary on-the-ground representative, responsible for leading the construction process from pre-construction through project completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Kurumbuka’s lead representative for all construction activities.

  • Oversee project planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

  • Manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers.

  • Monitor budgets, schedules, risks, and project performance to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with Rwandan regulations, building codes, and permitting processes.

  • Coordinate with government authorities, engineers, architects, and stakeholders.

  • Maintain transparent reporting to Kurumbuka leadership, donors, and the Property Committee.

  • Ensure strong health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on site.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience managing medium to large-scale construction projects, with demonstrated ability to oversee complex developments from planning through completion.

  • Experience serving as a client-side Project Manager or Owner’s Representative.

  • Strong knowledge of Rwandan construction regulations and permitting processes.

  • Proven ability to manage contractors, budgets, and project schedules.

  • Strong financial literacy (BOQs, contracts, cash flow).

  • Fluent in English; Kinyarwanda or French is an advantage.

  • Permitted to work in Rwanda

  • A mature Christian with strong personal integrity.

  • Strong alignment with Kurumbuka’s mission and values.

  • Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented.

  • Calm and resilient under pressure with strong leadership ability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, or demonstrated professional experience in a closely related construction or project management discipline.

  • Experience working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or faith-based organizations is an advantage.

  • Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, engineers, architects, and government authorities.
