What does it mean that applications are evaluated on a rolling basis?

Applications are accepted and responded to on a continuing basis until the application deadline. Therefore, it is possible that all available spots will be filled before the deadline. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply early to give themselves the best chance of being admitted.

Can I participate in ALI while working full-time?

Yes. This program is designed so that high-level leaders can continue to work while increasing their competency and engaging with other like-minded influencers. However, participation in ALI requires the support of your organization. Please see our Eligibility Requirements to learn more.

Can I apply for ALI if I do not live in Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, DR Congo, South Sudan, Kenya, or Tanzania?

If you live in another African country you are welcome to apply. However, you will be required to attend all residential sessions in Kigali (Cohort 10) or Kampala (Cohort 11). Please note that we are actively working to improve accessibility by offering our program in new regions throughout the continent.

Can I apply for ALI if I am not a citizen of an African country?

Exceptional applications from citizens of non-African countries are only considered if the applicant is living in Africa and has displayed a long-term commitment to the local community where they are currently working and residing.

Where are the training sessions held?

Training sessions for Cohort 10 will be held in Kigali (Masaka) at the Kurumbuka Leadership Hub. Training sessions for Cohort 11 will be held in or near Kampala, Uganda.

Where do participants stay during the residential sessions?

We facilitate accommodations for all students who travel from outside of Kigali (Cohort 10) or Kampala (Cohort 11).

Are all training sessions hosted in Kigali or Kampala?

All in-person training sessions will take place in Kigali (Cohort 10) or Kampala (Cohort 11). However, an undetermined number of sessions will be held online; allowing participants to remain in their homes while still completing the appropriate courses.

What is a cohort?

A cohort is defined as 'a group of people banded together or treated as a group'. In our context, a cohort is a group of learners completing courses as a unified group.

What does my tuition cover?

Your tuition will cover all books, resource materials, facilitator fees, meals, special activities, and accommodations.

When are my tuition payments due?

Successful applicants are required to pay tuition before classes start in October. Custom payment plans can be arranged on a needs-basis.

What certificate will I earn by completing ALI?

Competency-based stream participants will be awarded an Advanced Leadership Certificate in Abundant Leadership from Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions. Academic stream participants will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Asset-Based Leadership.

Will I receive a certificate if I do not complete the program?

Yes. However, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance that lists the courses you completed not an Advanced Leadership Certificate in Abundant Leadership.

Is ALI accredited by an external institution?

Yes, Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions partners with Trinity Western University to provide accreditation recognized by international accrediting bodies and universities for the Academic Stream of the Abundant Leadership Institute.
